Please contact our Customer Service and we will help you find a solution to your lost test.

What is the postal cost of sending in my BalanceTest?

We advise you to put the correct amount of postage stamps on the envelope before you post it.

What is the BalanceTest?

Zinzino Balance Test is a dry blood sample test to use at home. It takes less than a minute to perform. A little prick in your finger by the enclosed needle and collect a few drops of blood on a filter paper in the test kit.

The blood sample is sent to a certified laboratory for analysis, and you find your personal test results on www.zinzinotest.com

The test analyzes 11 fatty acids in your blood that represents 98% of the fatty acids present in your blood. The fatty acid profile shown in your results reflects your diet in respect to fat intake. On your test result you find dietary indicators showing your omega-6 to omega-3 balance, the omega-3 (EPA+DHA) value, the efficiency of your body´s arachidonic acid (AA) formation, your cell membrane fluidity index among other.

To learn more log in to www.zinzinotest.com and How to read your test result. The results will tell you whether you have an unbalanced, semi-balanced or balanced diet.

Is it important to do the test?

Before you know the results of your current diet, it is difficult to know exactly what your body lacks. In leadership, they teach that you first have to identify the problem and then find the best solution. This is also our philosophy. The test gives you an indication of what you need to change to achieve balance in your omega 6:3 ratio.

How is the test analyzed?
The blood spot samples are analyzed by gas chromatographic/mass spectroscopy (GC/MS), which is the most common method for analysis of fatty acids.
What are the rules for use of Zinzino Balance Test?

Zinzino Balance Test is a CE-marked home test kit.

You can use it at home, in a conference room or in your office.

It is not approved for use in public places like a hotel lobby or a restaurant. Please respect that.

Before you do the test, read the instructions, watch the instructional film and give yourself plenty of time until you feel confident at testing.

It is recommended to use the ring finger and to take the test on the hand the individual is not using for writing.

Only assist in testing if you are given permission.

Remember to never touch the test paper to avoid contamination of the test.

We also recommend that you collect the test envelope from your customer and ensure that postage is added on the envelope so you ensure that the test will be sent to the test lab as soon as possible.

What do I do if I haven´t achieved the recommended balance after 120 days?

First of all, make sure that you have taken the balance product daily, and that you have taken the right amount for your body weight. For oil the daily dosage is 0,15 ml x body weight. Ask the following questions:

  • Has the oil been taken regularly each day between Test 1 and Test 2?
  • Has the right amount of oil been taken in relation to body weight?
  • Has anything changed in the diet during this period?
  • Was there enough blood on the analysis test? Or has blood been "pressed" out? Important that it flows freely so the right blood quality comes out and that vacuum packaging is properly closed when it is shipped.
  • Does the customer take any kind of medications? (this can affect the result)

If you have taken correct daily dosages for 120 days, answered “correct” on the above questions and are not totally in balance then increase your Balance Oil intake with 25% for around 2 months and take a new test.

If you are still not in balance contact our Customer Service for more information.

Can I experience any reaction when achieving balance?

Most people feel an improvement in wellbeing after achieving balance. Temporarily, some peoples may be more tired for a period, before improvement in wellbeing.

How many Balance Tests have been analyzed at this point?

At this point over 260.000 first tests have been analyzed at Vitas.

75% do not take an Omega-3 supplement and have an average ratio of 12:1.

20% who take an Omega-3 supplement have an average ratio of 7:1.

Only 5% have a ratio of 3:1 (in Europe).

Over 100.000 second tests have been analyzed at Vitas.

95% of those taking Zinzino Balance products have a ratio of near 3:1 after 120 days.

BalanceOil
What separates the BalanceOil from other Omega-3 supplements?

The difference between regular Omega-3 products and the Balance products is the content of marine Omega-3 fatty acids (EPA and DHA) and polyphenols from olives. This special combination will restore and maintain a normal Omega-6/Omega-3 fatty acid balance in the body in a safe and effective way and mimics the protective effects of eating oily fish. Most Omega-3 products only contain the marine Omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA. The Balance products combine the best from the Arctic and Mediterranean diet. By adding the BalanceOil into your diet, your Omega-3 levels in your body will increase, and the Omega-6/ Omega-3 fatty acid balance in your body will be normalized.

Why should I take BalanceOil?

Because it is the most tested, most effective and most protected dietary oil in the world.

Our test based system ensures with a before and after test that you are taking the right amount of BalanceOil to balance your fatty acids with a specific focus on your Omega-6 to Omega-3 ratio.

Marine Omega-3 fatty acids are important for a normal brain function (EPA/DHA), a normal heart function (EPA/DHA) and a normal immune system (Vitamin D-3). A full explanation of this is found here.

Normally Omega-3 is only protected by Vitamin-E against oxidation in the bottle. Zinzino uses the highest quality of mixed Vitamin-E to do this as well. But to really protect fat from oxidation we have to protect it after you have consumed it. This is done through our extra-virgin high polyphenol olive oil. We increase your cellular level of lipid soluble polyphenols and through that we reduce oxidative stress in your body even though we have increased your intake of Omega-3 fats.

The three steps combined make BalanceOil the natural choice.

USA: This statement has not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.

Why is it important to have a normal Omega-6/ Omega-3 fatty acid balance?

Our Western diet contains much Omega-6 fatty acids and relatively small amounts of marine Omega-3 fatty acids, which increases the unbalance between Omega-6 fatty acids and Omega-3 fatty acids in the body. Such unbalance is a driving force for development of lifestyle related health problems. Both the Omega-6 and Omega-3 fatty acids are precursors for hormone-like signaling molecules (eicosanoids) in the body. Eicosanoids derived from Omega-6 are pro-inflammatory. Signaling molecules derived from Omega-3 fatty acids have lower inflammatory potential, some are also anti-inflammatory. In many ways the eicosanoids fulfill each other, and that is why it is important to have a good balance between these. A normal Omega-6/Omega-3 fatty acid balance is fundamental for a good eicosanoid balance, while a high Omega-6/Omega-3 fatty acid balance has a pro-inflammatory eicosanoid balance. Nordic Council of Ministers recommends that the Omega-6/Omega-3 fatty acid balance in the diet is below 5:1. The World health organization recommends a balance of 4:1 to maintain a normal cardiovascular health.

How can I know if I have a healthy Omega-6/Omega-3 fatty acid balance?

We advise you to check your Omega-6/Omega-3 fatty acid balance by using our ZinzinoTest. This test measures fatty acids in whole blood, which reflects the fatty acid profile in your daily diet. From the fatty acid profile the Omega-3 level and Omega-6/Omega-3 fatty acid balance are calculated. If you have a balanced diet, your Omega-6/Omega-3 fatty acid balance will be lower than 5:1, preferably lower than 3:1.

What part of the fish is used to produce the BalanceOil?

The fish oils that come from LYSI, are normally derived from short-lived, small pelagic fish. The whole fish is used to produce the oil. The crude oil goes through a refining process to remove sensory- and environmental contaminants. The refining process makes the fish oil palatable.

Read more about Lysi´s Certificates here.

How much omega-3 do I need?

The minimum recommended daily intake of EPA and DHA differs between countries and organizations. Below are some examples:

  • EFSA (European Food Safety Authority); 250 mg EPA+DHA/day
  • American Heart Association; Two serving of fatty fish per week
  • ISSFAL (International Society for the Study of Fatty Acids and Lipids); Minimum 500 mg EPA+DHA/day
  • WHO (World Health Organization); 200-500 mg EPA+DHA/day.*

Our Western diet contains a surplus of Omega-6 fatty acids compared to Omega-3 fatty acids, which makes it necessary to increase the daily intake of Omega-3 fatty acids up to 3 gram to achieve a normal Omega-6/Omega-3 fatty acid balance.

* Read more at WHO Nutrition topics - 5.4.5 Disease-specific recommendations (external link) or download pdf

Is there anyone who should not take BalanceOil or should consult with a doctor while taking it?

A doctor or nurse should be consulted before taking the product if you are taking a blood-thinning medicine, are pregnant, nursing, have a medical condition or before given to children under one year of age.

Is Balance Oil all that is needed to achieve a balanced diet?
There is a difference between balance (between omega-6 and omega-3) and a balanced diet. The Balance products will provide you with essential nutrients that may otherwise not be consumed in sufficient quantities in your normal diet, such as the omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA. It is recommended that you eat a healthy diet and exercise regularly, in order to maintain and achieve a balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle.
Some researchers are saying that omega-3 should have more DHA and less EPA. Why do Zinzino Balance Oil have more EPA than DHA?
Results from Balance Test shows that the ratio of EPA and DHA in what you eat is not reflected in the blood, meaning that it is the amount of EPA and DHA in what you eat that is important and not that much the ratio between EPA and DHA.
What is Balance Oil made of?

Balance Oil is a unique combination of fish oil, extra virgin olive oil and Vitamin D. Balance Oil will help you achieve balance as a natural part of your diet.

Is Balance Oil a dietary supplement?
Yes, Balance Oil is a dietary supplement that is intended to provide nutrients that may otherwise not be consumed in sufficient quantities in your daily diet.
What type of Vitamin D do we use?
Vitamin D3
Can you “overdose” on Vitamin D?
The European Safety Authority (EFSA) published in 2012 a scientific opinion on the tolerable upper level for vitamin D for adults, including pregnant and lactating women, this upper limit is 100 µg/day. For children and adolescents, the UL has been set at 50 µg/day for ages 1-10 years, and at 100 µg/day for ages 11-17 years. For infants up to one year of age, the UL is 25 µg/day.
Why is the oil bioactive?
It is bioactive because when you consume this product it changes composition and the balance between active components in your body, creating a physiological effect.
Is the oil fabricated synthetic or natural form?
Both fish oil and olive oil in Zinzino Balance Oil are fully natural in the form of triglycerides.
Do we use any endangered fish species in making of our Balance Oil?
No.
Are we using any concentrate in the products and if not, why?
No. We only use fully natural fish oil and olive oil that is built from natural triglycerides.
Are the flavors (lemon, vanilla and orange/lemon/mint) in Balance Oil natural or artificial flavors?
The lemon flavor in Balance Oil is natural, while the vanilla and orange/lemon/mint flavors are combinations between artificial and natural components.
Should I take Zinzino Balance products during specific seasons, f.ex. like in the winter?
You need to use Zinzino balance products every day all year around to stay balanced.
Why should I use the oil for 120 days?
It takes approximately 120 days for all the red blood cells to “renew” themselves. Since the test is measured in whole blood you´ll first see your most correct result after this period. Remember that you have to maintain with daily doses of oil to keep your balance. It only takes another 120 days to get out of balance again if you stop taking the oil. The cells in the body renews itself every day, depending on whether we are talking about skin, immune system and other types of cells. So to be in balance requires one daily dose of oil.
I struggle with skin rash. Will I notice an improvement in my skin?

Some people will notice an improvement in their skin when their body comes into balance. The skin is a reflection of what is going on inside of us. To maintain the good result it is important to maintain the use of Balance Oil throughout life. Also notice that you may experience that skin rashes or skin problems becomes worse when you start on Balance Oil, before it gets better with time. Please note that not all people will experience any improvement on their skin even though there are people who do. One of the approved EU claims in Vitamin D is that it contributes to a normal function of immune system and this may be the reason why some experience some improvement.

Should I take Zinzino Balance Oil together with food?

There is no rule for when to take Balance Oil. Many people find it best to take the products with food rather than on an empty stomach. You may want to take it with food so that you do not experience “nausea” which may occur for some people due to decomposing of fat in the body. If you have never taken omega-3 in liquid form before and feel nausea, we recommend that you start with a teaspoon and increase your daily dose over a two-week period.

How should the oil be stored?
Store unopened bottles in a dark dry place at room temperature or in refrigerator. Store opened bottles in refrigerator and use within 45 days. The oil may become cloudy at temperatures lower than 4° C (39° F) due to the solidification of the olive oil. The oil will clear at room temperature.
The oil is thick in my fridge, does it matter?
The oil may become cloudy at temperatures lower than 4° C (39° F) due to the solidification of the olive oil. The oil will clear at room temperature. Let the oil stand on the table at room temperature for about 2 hours and then shake the bottle so it mixes well and then take your daily dose of oil. Put it back in the fridge after use.
Once opened, how long can I use the oil?
We recommend that you use your oil within 45 days after opening. Remember to keep the oil with the cap on in the refrigerator to keep the quality of the oil longer.
Can I use the oil if I have allergies, like fish or citrus allergy?
If you have fish allergy, you may have a reaction to the oil. When you are allergic to fish your immune system is reacting to certain proteins in the fish. Your body uses antibodies and other chemicals to attack the fish allergens, which is why you suffer allergic symptoms if you eat fish. Fish oil supplements usually don´t contain fish proteins, but people with fish allergies are generally advised to avoid Balance Oil due to potential traces of protein contamination. The same applies to allergy to citrus as there is natural lemon flavor added to the Balance Oil. If you have citrus allergy we recommend that you use Zinzino Balance Oil with vanilla flavor.
Is there any difference between fish oil allergy and fish protein allergy?
There is no fish oil allergy, only fish protein allergy.
Can Zinzino say and how Zinzino can prove that our products are free of dangerous ingredients like mercury, cadmium, lead, PCB´s etc?
The products follow EU legislation, meaning that the products are below limit values of for example copper, iron, arsenic, lead, cadmium, mercury, dioxins and PCB´s. The products are analyzed regularly.
How much oil do I need to take?
Dosing of Balance Oil is according to weight; 0,15 ml X bodyweight daily. (After 120 days, if you are in balance, then the dosage can be decreased to 0,13 ml X bodyweight daily).
Is the plastic bottle free of BPA and PVC?
Both the plastic bottle and the cap are free from PVC and BPA.
Why do Zinzino use plastic bottles instead of glass?

Plastic bottles like ours for balance Oil are of certified virgin raw material quality ( no recycled material) and are certified to be of food grade quality. The factory making these bottles must be, and are, certified for making food quality bottles. No contamination happens in the production and bottles can be used at once! The same is for the cork. Plastic is today more commonly used for food and food supplements.

Also over time ( like 5 years! ) Certified Glass or Certified Plastic has the same quality preservation properties. Meaning, nothing happens to the bottle over time! and there is no migration of chemicals or heavy metals into the product. It does not matter if its water, Oil, Wine, Beer etc.  This is off course checked with authorities. There are standard test methods that must be used and standard limits for heavy metals and toxins that are used when checking. So same rules everywhere.

The fact is the glass bottles must be of Certified food grade quality to ensure no heavy metals are migrated from the bottle into the Oil. Glass is in fact a very critical packaging material and you cannot use any glass bottle! Proper glass quality is critical and difficult! So most authorities also demand an independent test done by SGS or GS or TUV to support the certificate. When using a glass bottle for food then certificates and tests results must be presented to Food and Health Authorities.
Zinzino must do this, and we do, for example on the glass bottles used for Coffee Syrup. Why glass are our bottles for syrup in glass?  – Simple, the small factory do not have a packaging machine for plastic bottles.

So why does Lysi/Zinzino use plastic?
Quality aspects are the same, price is cheaper and from an environmental point plastic is better. Glass production contaminates the earth where they are produced.
Glass production consumes more energy Glass is not being recycled as much as plastic Plastic is either recycled  and used for other products or burned with waste and then this kind of plastic becomes CO2 + water Plastic bottles are light and thus transportation do not consume as much fuel.

Lysi is a GMP certified producer! because they make medical quality Omega3 to pharmaceutical companies. GMP puts more pressure on quality control and certificates than any other quality system! Meaning, Lysi must check and double check quality certs and test certs form ALL suppliers including BOTTLES. The food grade quality of bottles must be perfect or Lysi could lose the GMP certification.

Glass or plastic bottles from an environmental point.

GLASS
Glass is used since hundreds of years since this was the only option and today it´s mainly used for marketing reasons. It feels exclusive.

Is glass Eco-friendly? Not really!
- Only 20% of glass bottles are recycled ( in some countries 0%) and thus the rest of these bottles are waste.
- Glass waste ends up in large deposits sites somewhere in the country – this is really bad for environment.
- Glass production consumes a lot of energy since production needs 1400 - 2000 C. so production is not eco-friendly.
- Dark glass is the best for protection of the content ( like fish Oil, Balance Oil etc) from light and this require ingredients (heavy metals) in the glass production that are polluting the environment.
- For glass bottles that are clear, an extra paper box is needed to protect the content from light – this is extra waist.
- Glass bottles are heavy and thus transportation require more energy than when transporting products with lighter packaging material.
- Glass factories are today considered to be environmental hazards due to their use of heavy metals and other ingredients.

PLASTIC
Plastic is today more commonly used for food for environmental reasons. Just walk into any food shop… Soda, Water, Yogurt …. Milk… The Swedish State Wine monopoly have a goal of reducing glass and to get 30% of the wine in PET bottles ..for environmental reasons….

Is plastic Eco Friendly? Yes it is…even if not perfect.
- PET : Polyethylene terephthalate
- PET – is the better kind of plastic for the environment . It´s re-cyclable and thus become new plastic products or can be used for making clothing material (fleece).
- In many countries PET-recycling works well and in some countries in the world less good.
- PET plastic that is not recycled is burned with household waste and become only Co2, water and energy - PET that is burned generates energy which is used for electricity or heating which is good.
- PET bottle productions also require energy, but much less than glass.
- PET are light and less diesel or petrol is used for transportation

Zinzino PET bottles
- Are certified of GMP quality (GMP = Medical grade quality system ) thus it has all certificates.
- Are of certified virgin raw material quality (no recycled material) and are certified to be of food grade quality.
- Are certified for not having any migration from the bottles into the content of the bottle over time, like 5 years.
- Are certified free from Bisphenol substances
- Are air-tight like glass and thus protects the oil from oxygen and thus keeps the quality perfect inside for many years.

Summary
From a BalanceOil quality point the PET bottles protects the content and keeps it perfect just as good as glass. But from a total environmental point PET bottles are far better than glass and therefore the obvious choice for Zinzino

BalanceOil Vegan
Why should I take BalanceOil Vegan?

Can vegetarians and vegans get healthy omega-3 EPA and DHA fatty acids from a diet that contains no fish?

Can they rely on plant foods such as flax seed to provide enough of the long chain omega 3’s they need?

Yes – and no.

Our bodies can convert plant-sourced omega-3 fatty acids to EPA and DHA, but only to a very small degree. Typical conversion rates are below 5% in women, and below 2% in men. So, most vegans and vegetarians cannot get into omega-6/omega-3 balance. But now there is an easy solution. Go to where the fish get their omega-3’s from; cold water marine algae. These algae provide pure long chain omega-3’s – the same found in fish – but which are entirely vegan. This algae oil is the main ingredient in Zinzino’s BalanceOil Vegan and is offering you all the benefits of our regular BalanceOil made from fish oil. It safely adjusts and maintains EPA+DHA levels and the omega-6:3 balance in your body.

For more information about BalanceOil, go to the question Why should I take BalanceOil? in this FAQ.

What is BalanceOil Vegan made of?

Zinzino BalanceOil Vegan is a synergistic blend of marine micro-algae oil, echium seed oil, extra virgin preharvest olive oil and

vegan vitamin D.

It safely adjusts and maintains EPA+DHA levels and the omega-6:3 balance in your body.

The marine algae oil from Schizochytrium sp. contains omega-3 (EPA and DHA).

The echium seed oil contains omega-3 (SDA and ALA), omega-6 (GLA) and omega-9 (OA).

The extra virgin pre-harvest olive oil contains omega-9 (OA) and very high levels of polyphenols.

What are the most vital ingredients in BalanceOil Vegan?

Algae Oil

The oil derived from the marine microalgae Schizochytrium sp. is rich in the omega-3 fatty acids Eicosapentaenoic Acid (EPA)/Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA).

It is produced in an FDA-inspected and controlled facility in USA, it is a highly concentrated and consistent product.

Echium Oil

Echium seed (GMO free), is rich in the omega-3 fatty acids omega-3 SDA and ALA, the omega-6 fatty acid GLA and the omega-9 fatty acid OA.

Echium seed oil contains the rare omega-3 fatty acid SDA, which is converted five times better to EPA in the body than the typical plant omega-3 ALA, i.e. in flaxseed. But there is more. Echium seed oil also contains the valuable omega-6 fatty acid GLA, beneficial for balancing hormones and skin health!

Vitamin D3

Our exclusive vegan vitamin D3 (Cholecalciferol) comes from a special, organically grown, plant source called lichen.

It can accumulate large levels of useful nutrients, including vitamin D3.

The vitamin D3 is extracted and then some coconut oil is added to it. The vitamin D3 is Vegan certified and of course GMO free.

LeanShake
What are the proteins used in LeanShake and what are their benefits?

In the milk based LeanShake (chocolate and strawberry flavor) whey protein isolate, milk protein concentrate and collagen peptides are used as protein sources.

In the vegetarian based LeanShake (berry and vanilla flavor) oat and pea protein are used.

These are all rich sources of proteins and essential amino acids. Proteins contributes to growth and maintenance of muscle mass and the maintenance of normal bones.

Why is the fiber content in LeanShake unique?

LeanShake has a high content of dietary fiber. The dietary fiber include
both soluble and insoluble types. Soluble fiber is fermented by the colon`s microorganisms while the insoluble fiber passes through the colon unfermented. Both soluble and insoluble fibers are called prebiotic fibers meaning that they stimulate the growth and maintenance of the beneficial gut microbiota. The gut microbiota has many important protective and metabolic functions, and should be stimulated in the right way, for instance, adding the right types and amounts of dietary fibers.

Other products generally contain only one or two fibers, a strategy which is not enough for your daily need. Zinobiotic contains significant amounts of five soluble dietary fibers. This approach ensures benefits for the whole colon.

Which sweetener and natural flavors are used in Lean Shake?

Coconut palm sap powder and stevia are used as sweeteners. In addition, honey powder is used for a good and balanced sweet flavor.

How much LeanShake should I use per day?

Mix 60g LeanShake with 2-2,5 dl water, or mix 30g LeanShake with 2,5 dl skimmed milk or milk substitutes for balanced nutrition and weight maintenance.

Lose weight: Replace two or more meals a day. We also recommend you eat one or two nutritious balanced meals a day.

Fitness – Before or after exercise: once or twice a day.

Weight control: Replace one meal per day with LeanShake.

In addition, if you want one or more light meals per day you can use one scoop of lean shake and mix with water or milk.

ZinoBiotic
Why should I take the ZinoBiotic Fiber blend?

Health scientists agree we should increase our daily dietary fiber intake. ZinoBiotic provides a blend of dietary fibers that serve as fuel for the beneficial bacteria in our colon.

The fibers in ZinoBiotic stimulate the growth of good bacteria throughout the colon. There are over 100 trillion bacteria in the human colon and while some are good for our health, others are less desirable. The good bacteria uses dietary fibers as their fuel, enabling them to outgrow and displace the less wanted bacteria. The good bacteria contributes to many important body functions, such as educating our immune system. They are also linked to better mood, stamina and health in general. A healthy gut is essential for a healthy body.

Can I take the ZinoBiotic Fiber blend and LeanShake together?

Yes. You can take both products together in the same meal or take them separately at different times during the day, as you prefer. The dietary fibers in ZinoBiotic are the same as the ones found in the LeanShake.

Is there anyone who should not take ZinoBiotic Fiber blend?

It is recommended that people with stomach related problems start with a small dose and increase the dosage over a period of time, giving the microbiome time to adjust.

What kind of symptoms could I experience from taking ZinoBiotic Fiber blend?

Symptoms could include increased fecal bulk, rumbling and sounds. Increased level of flatulence (gas) can also be experienced in relation to a dietary fiber intake, but in most cases this will only last for a short period of time. Some people also experience  mild constipation. For this, and other symptoms it is important to ensure your water consumption by adding more water to your diet. This is recommended in general when you consume any kind of dietary fibers.

Xtend
Why should I take Xtend?

It compensates for the modern diet, which is low in many of the micro- and phyto-nutrients needed for optimal health.

Are there any adults who should not take Xtend?

Xtend is intended for adults and children over 12 years of age. No other contraindications.

Xtend contains Vitamin K - Is this a problem for people on blood thinning drugs?

Xtend contains 85 micro grams of Vitamin K (25 mcg K1, 60 mcg K2), which is 113% of the RDI.
Vitamin K is known to compete with anti-k anticoagulant medication, so it is important to tell your doctor. The doctor should be monitoring your blood clotting time and will adjust the dose of your medication.

Is it just a standard multivitamin or does it has more to it?

Xtend is so much more. It contains all the important vitamins and trace elements, but it combines them with a full spectrum phyto-nutrient program and advanced immune support.

Protect
What is the beta glucan ingredient in Protect?

The ingredient in Protect is called Wellmune, it is a natural ingredient, a beta 1,3/1,6 glucan from a proprietary strain of baker’s yeast. There are 13 clinical studies that support the safety and efficacy of Wellmune. This science cannot be applied to beta glucans from other yeasts or mushrooms, which have different structures and are less effective.

When should I take Protect?

Protect should be taken daily to provide immune benefits. The average life span of an immune cell is approximately 24-36 hours, so it is important to continually take Protect to boost new immune cells that the body is constantly producing.

Do I find Beta Glucans in normal food?

Yes, 1,3/1,6 Beta-glucans are found in foods, but these have different structures and in
studies are only half as effective.

Are there people who shouldn’t take Protect?

Anyone who has received an organ transplant should be cautious. This is theoretically a risk group, even though pre-clinical tests have not found any problems. In general, follow the recommended dosage on the label.

What happens if I take too much?

The upper daily intake for vitamin D is 100 μg and this equals 5 capsules. If larger doses are taken by mistake over time, you should contact your doctor.

Apply sparingly to the face and neck, morning and night, for best results. Use within 12 months after opening.

Does the Zinzino SkinSerum contain natural ingredients?

Yes, the majority of the ingredients in the Zinzino SkinSerum are natural. There are a few exceptions like the ingredients polyvinyl alcohol, methyl methacrylate crosspolymer, dextran, copper heptapeptide-14 pantohenate and heptapeptide-15 palmitate. These are used because there are no natural, stable alternatives that provide the same beneficial effect for your skin. However, the amounts are very low.

I can´t find the ingredients list in my language?

Ingredients must only be declared according to the INCI standard. Using only INCI words ensures that any person seeking more information can find it in the European cosmetics database.

No, none of the ingredients in the serum are tested on animals.

What is the ingredient Methyl Methacrylate Crosspolymer and why do Zinzino use it in the serum?

The purpose of the ingredient is to ensure a nice and smooth serum, which spreads evenly on the skin in a thin, powder-like layer.

In the Zinzino Serum we use a special kind of this ingredient, that is ISO 14001 Environmental Certified and the factory is GMP Medical Grade certified. The ingredient is certified free from any; preservatives, allergens, toxins or heavy metals. This ensures the best and safest possible ingredient in the Serum.

Balance & Omega 3
Is it possible to overdose on omega-3?
The European Safety Authority (EFSA) published in 2012 a scientific opinion in the tolerable upper intake of EPA and DHA, stating that “supplemental intakes of EPA and DHA combined at doses up to 5 g/day, and supplemental intakes of EPA alone up to 1.8 g/day, do not raise safety concerns for the adult population. The Panel also considers supplemental intakes of DHA alone up to about 1 g/day do not raise safety concerns for the general population”. Supplemental intakes of EPA and DHA combined at doses up to 5 g/day would mean > 30 ml Balance Oil per day.
What type of food in our daily diet contains much omega-6 fatty acids?
Animal meat and eggs constitute the food groups that are highest in the omega-6 fatty acid, arachidonic acid (AA). Other type of omega-6 fatty acids are found in vegetable oils such as soybean oil, corn oil, sunflower oil and so on, and therefore in most of the foods that we eat on a daily basis.
What else is omega-3 supplement good for?

Omega-3 supplements are important to increase the omega-3 content in your diet and to achieve balance between pro- and anti-inflammatory components in your body. In addition omega-3 are important for a natural and healthy development and growth. Growing scientific evidence show that omega-3 (EPA and DHA) are important for our cardiovascular health, cognitive performance, mood and behavior, and not at least fetus development.

According to REGULATION (EC) No 1924/2006 & REGULATION (EU) No 432/2012:

So far EPA and DHA have 5 EU health claims:

- EPA and DHA contribute to the normal function of the heart

- DHA contribute to the maintenance of normal vision

- DHA contribute to the normal brain function

- DHA and EPA (2 g daily) contributes to the maintenance of normal blood triglyceride concentrations (max 5 g EPA+DHA).

- DHA and EPA (3 g daily) contributes to the maintenance of normal blood pressures (max 5 g EPA+DHA).

What is inflammation?

Inflammation is a process that can exert both positive and negative effects on your health. The acute inflammatory response is generally positive. It is an important part of the body´s defence against invading pathogens, and the response to injury. Symptoms include swelling, redness, pain and an increase in temperature in the affected area. But if acute inflammation fails to resolve the problem, chronic inflammation may develop, and this is generally negative.

Chronic inflammation is now known to play a critical role in driving most if not all the chronic degenerative diseases. There is overwhelming evidence that we have recently become far more prone to chronic inflammation, due to the progressive removal of anti-inflammatory compounds from our diet, such as Vitamin D and long chained polyunsaturated omega-3 fatty acids and pholyphenols.

According to REGULATION (EC) No 1924/2006 & REGULATION (EU) No 432/2012:

√ BalanceOil is a source of Vitamin D, (The claim BalanceOil is high in vitamin D can be used for dosages of BalanceOil from 12ml and above).

EU Health claims on Vitamin D in BalanceOil:
Vitamin D contributes to normal absorption/utilization of calcium and phosphorus, normal blood calcium levels, maintenance of normal bones, maintenance of normal muscle function, maintenance of normal teeth, normal function of immune system and inflammation response. It also has a role in the process of cell division.

What is omega-3?

Omega-3 is a collective term for a group of long-chained polyunsaturated fatty acids. These fatty acids are essential fatty acids meaning that you can only get them through your diet, and that your body can not produce them itself. There are different types of omega-3 fatty acids, but the omega-3 fatty acids with chain length of 20 or more carbons are the most important. These are entitled Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA or C20:5n-3) and Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA or C22:6n-3).

According to REGULATION (EC) No 1924/2006 & REGULATION (EU) No 432/2012:

The European Union have approved the following claims for EPA and DHA:

- EPA and DHA contribute to the normal function of the heart

- DHA contribute to the maintenance of normal vision

- DHA contribute to the normal brain function

- DHA and EPA (2 g daily) contributes to the maintenance of normal blood
  triglyceride concentrations (max 5 g EPA+DHA)

- DHA and EPA (3 g daily) contributes to the maintenance of normal blood pressures (max 5 g EPA+DHA).

Where can I find omega-3 in food?
Omega-3 fatty acids (EPA and DHA) are mainly found in oily fish such as sardines, mackerel, anchovis, salmon etc. There is also plant sources of Omega-3 such as alpha linolenic acid (ALA) found in some vegetable oils. Our bodies can make EPA and DHA from ALA, but this process is very limited and inefficient. It is hardly possible to achieve a recommended Omega-balance through mainly eating a vegetarian diet. The simple way to achieving high EPA and DHA levels is through the use of Zinzino balance products.
What are the recommendations from Nordic Council of Ministers (NNR) and WHO about the omega6/3 balance and where can I find these?

The recommendation from Nordic Council of Ministers (Nordic nutrition recommendations 2012) recommends that our omega-3 intake is at least 1 E% per day which means at least 2.2g omega-3 per day for an adult, and also an omega6/3 balance of less than 5:1

You can read it here, page 217.

The recommendation from WHO, they have stated a balance of about 4:1, (There should also be an optimal balance between intake of n-6 PUFAs and n-3 PUFAs, i.e. 5-8% and 1-2% of daily energy intake, respectively.) An average is used to get 4:1, 6.5/1.5=4,33=4:1, and this recommendation is to promote cardiovascular health.

Production Process
What is the production process of the Balance Oil, where does the fish come from and can you list the ingredients?

Ingredients in Balance Oil: Fish oil, cold pressed olive oil, mixed tocopherols, aroma (citrus, vanilla etc.) and Vitamin D.

The Balance Oil is made by LYSI in Iceland. The fish oil used, is primarily derived from short-lived, small pelagic fish such as sardines, anchovies and mackerel but there is no requirement for any specific fish and up to 30 different kinds of fish could be the source over time. The critical factor is a fatty acid profile of the oil (EPA + DHA) to ensure it efficiently optimizes Omega-6/3 fatty acid balance in the body, within 120 days.

The fish is wild caught and comes from various places like the Atlantic ocean and the Pacific Ocean. The fish oil is certified by local authorities to come from approved areas of fishing and also organisations like Friends of the Sea. Our fish oil is derived from whole, unprocessed fish. Any left overs of the fish is used as animal feed in order to reduce any waiste.

The fish Oil is anlyzed and certified to comply to all European regulations for heavy metals, toxins and other contaminants. At LYSI the oil goes through further refining processes to remove environmental contaminants before its blended with the Olive oil.

Lysi, meets all regulatory requirements for production and follows GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices) for food and pharmaceutical products.

How is the purification/refinement process set up to make sure the concern of food quality is met?

The fish oil used in the Zinzino blend is derived from short-lived, small pelagic fish. The crude oil is extracted by cooking and further refined at Lysi.

Refining comprises the following steps:

Neutralisation: Removes free fatty acids, improves flavour.
Bleaching: Reduces colour, removes contaminants.
Winterisation: Improves clarity at low temperatures.
Deodorisation: Removes volatiles (compounds that give off-flavour and contaminants). This makes the products palatable and guarantees it complies with regulations setting maxima for contaminants.

Is the olive oil cold pressed and what does cold pressed really mean?
The olive oil used in the Balance products is an extra virgin olive oil which is collected from the first cold pressing (top quality). Cold pressing means that minimal heat is involved when the oil is squeezed from the olive fruit using only pressure. In this way the oil contains most of the minor components and antioxidants that normally are lost by heating, solvent extraction and refining of the oil.
Where does the olive oil come from?
Spain.
Are the olives growing without any chemicals and pesticides?
Olives are quite resistance to pests, so the olive producers do not apply pesticides, unless they are obliged to avoid the loss of production, due to control plaques and diseases of olives. The olive oil is analyzed for pesticides. If the olive oil should be used for human consumption, the residues of pesticides must be below limit values set by EU regulations. The extra virgin olive oil used in the Balance products are below the limit values.
